A musical adaptation of the 2004 Adam Sandler-Drew Barrymore romcom 50 First Dates is in the works from The Other Josh Cohen creators David Rossmer and Steve Rosen.
The production, set to have its world premiere September 14-November 16 at London’s Other Palace, will be directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw. Starring are UK stage vets Georgina Castle and Josh St. Clair in the roles originated by Barrymore and Sandler. Rossmer and Rosen pen book and score.
50 First Dates is the story of Henry and Lucy, a couple who must fall in love over and over when he discovers that she is an amnesiac. George Wing wrote the original screenplay for the film, which is directed by Peter Segal.
Nicholaw’s creative team includes set and costume designer Fly Davis, lighting designer Aideen Malone, video designer George Reeve, and sound designer Adam Fisher. Hair and makeup design is by Cynthia De La Rosa, orchestrations and arrangements are by Matthew Jackson, and the musical supervisor/director is Richard Beadle.
