Broadway star Will Swenson will direct an independent film adaptation of Carol Lynn Pearson’s play Facing East, about a Mormon couple who grapples with their faith after the suicide of their gay son, according to The New York Times.

According to the report, a percentage of the film’s profits will be donated to the Trevor Project, a nationwide crisis and suicide prevention help line for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth.

Swenson is currently starring as Tick/Mitzi in Broadway’s Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical. He received a Tony Award nomination for his work in Hair and his other stage credits include 110 in the Shade and Camelot.
