The Public Theater Opens Richard Foreman's Latest Play, Old-Fashioned Prostitutes (A True Romance)
F. Murray Abraham and Hamish Linklater catch the show and the cast celebrates a successful opening.
Obie Award-winning actor F. Murray Abraham (The Merchant of Venice) showed up for the proceedings, as well as playwright and actor Hamish Linklater, who will star opposite Jesse Tyler Ferguson in the upcoming Shakespeare in the Park production of The Comedy of Errors.
Written, directed, and designed by Foreman, Old-Fashioned Prostitutes stars Rocco Sisto as Samuel, a monotonous writer-type with a penchant for narration. His best friend is the habitually awkward Alfredo (David Skeist). Samuel and Alfredo are menaced by two flapper costume-donning old-fashioned prostitutes, Suzie (Alenka Kraigher) and Gabriella (Stephanie Hayes). Nicolas Noreña occasionally appears on stage as Bibendum (aka Michelin), a wide-eyed toll-like character that, yes, looks like the Michelin man.
TheaterMania was there to capture a few pictures of Foreman, the cast, and their guests. In the world of the avant-garde theater, this is as close to a rock-star event as you can get.
