The Holy Cows of Credence, South Dakota Joins the 5th Annual Planet Connections Theatre Festivity

The new musical will hold six performances from June 2-13 at the Robert Moss Theater.

The Holy Cows of Credence, South Dakota, a new musical featuring a book by Mark-Eugene Garcia (Standby: The Musical) and a score by David and Paul Rigano (The Rigano Songbook) is scheduled to be presented as part of the 5th Annual Planet Connections Theatre Festivity. The musical received its world premiere in July of 2010 at the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center before moving on to the Puzzle: Marble’s Festival of New Works at Marble Collegiate Church in May of 2011. The Planet Connections Theatre Festivity will offer six performances between June 2 and June 13 at the Robert Moss Theater.

Based on the play Holy Cows by Carolyn Lardinois, The Holy Cows of Credence, South Dakota follows Marlys Brooks, a minister’s wife who cheers on her church’s abysmal baseball team, “The Holy Cows.” She typically uses the Sunday games as opportunities to dole out advice. One particular Sunday, however, she suffers from a lapse of faith and instead “places her hope in an unlikely source.”

The cast features Stephanie Kirkman as Marlys Brooks, along with Julia Menn as Elizabeth “Lizard” Brooks, Alanna Gwynne Shaffer as Nancy Smith, Jenny Paul as Dotty-Lue Tobin, Lisa Dennett as Grandma Fette, and Peter Ackerman as Skipper Krank.
