Steve Kazee Explains His Unexplained Extended Absence from Broadway's Once
The actor, who originated the role of "Guy" in Once, posted a lengthy letter to his fans on his website.
Broadway actor Steve Kazee, who has been missing from his role in Broadway's Once for more than a month, has finally broken his silence on the matter in a message to his fans posted on his website today.
The note explains that Kazee's absence has been due to a vocal injury suffered on February 6, which has kept him from performing since that date. Kazee goes on to explain that though he originally planned on extending his contract with Once through September, he now has no plans to rejoin the show. Understudy Ben Hope, who has been playing the role of "Guy" throughout Kazee's absence, took over officially on March 24.
Kazee closed the note by saying, "This show and everyone involved in it… and you, the audience, mean the world to me and I consider myself to be YOUR fan as well. Thank you for everything. I love you all."
