Sigourney Weaver and Tom Wopat will star in a remounting of Anne Nelson's play, The Guys, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Wopat will play the role of Nick, a fire captain who lost his crew of men in the World Trade Center attacks of 9/11. Weaver will play Joan, a journalist who helps Nick to write the eulogies he must deliver in the wake of the tragedy.

The production, directed by Jim Simpson, will be presented by the Flea Theater at Goldman Sachs headquarters on West Street, on Tuesday, September 6 with a special talkback moderated by Harry Smith and featuring Anne Nelson and others. The production will then move to The Museum of Jewish Heritage for a September 7at 3pm matinee for FDNY families and the public. The Museum of Jewish Heritage will also host a special benefit performance on Thursday, September 8 for The FDNY Foundation. An additional performance will also be offered Friday, September 9 at 2pm, featuring former Bats (and original production understudies) Irene Walsh and Tim Cummings.

Nelson, an award-winning author, playwright, and teacher, wrote The Guys in 2001, based on her experience with a New York City fire captain after the 9/11 attacks. The original production, directed by Simpson, starred Weaver and Bill Murray; they were followed by numerous stars, with Wopat playing his part in a fifth anniversary production of the show in 2006. The film version, directed by Simpson, starred Weaver and Anthony LaPaglia, who also appeared in the stage production.
