Sally Struthers is currently starring in the Falcon Theatre’s production of Sheldon and Mrs. Levine by Sam Bobrick and Julie Stein, directed by John Bowab. She replaces the previously announced Penny Marshall. The production officially opened October 26, and runs through November 18.

The play is the story of an ultra-possessive mother and her 31-year-old neurotic runaway son told through their exchange of outrageous and dysfunctional letters. In this love-hate relationship, Sheldon blames his mother for breaking up his marriage and ruining his life, while she can’t understand why something so trivial should bother her ungrateful son.

Struthers has appeared on Broadway in Grease, The Odd Couple, and Wally’s Café. Additional theater credits include Annie, Always, Patsy Cline (Los Angeles Artistic Director Theatre Award), and Mame (Ovation Award). She is a two-time Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award winner for All in the Family, and has starred in the Fox television series 9 to 5 and the CBS series Gloria. Her film credits include Five Easy Pieces and The Getaway.

According to a production statement, Marshall “was forced to resign from the cast due to illness.” The actress is the sister of Falcon founder Garry Marshall. She first came to fame as Myrna Turner on the television series The Odd Couple, and later made guest appearances on such shows as Taxi and Happy Days before starring in the hit sitcom Laverne and Shirley. She is now best known as a film director; her numerous credits include Jumpin’ Jack Flash, Big, Awakenings, and A League of Their Own.
