Olney Theatre Center Announces 2015-16 Season

Upcoming productions include a rotating rep of Gilbert & Sullivan and a musical by Moisés Kaufman.

Moisés Kaufman's Carmen: An Afro-Cuban Jazz Musical headlines Olney Theatre Center's 2015-2016 season.

Olney Theatre Center has announced its 2015-2016 season, which will include two world premieres, a rotating rep of Gilbert & Sullivan, and more.

Headlining the season is Carmen: An Afro-Cuban Jazz Musical. Written and directed by Tony nominee Moisés Kaufman (The Laramie Project Cycle) with music from two-time Grammy winner Arturo O'Farrill, the show is set in the waning days of Batista's regime in Cuba.

The season will also include the previously announced Hay Fever by Noël Coward (September 2-27), Jennifer Hoppe-House's Bad Dog (September 30-October 25), and the classic musical Guys and Dolls (November 11-December 27).

Newly announced productions include Jordan Harrison's new play Marjorie Prime (March 11-April 10), directed by Jason Loewith; the classic thriller Dial "M" For Murder (April 6-May 1), directed by Associate Artistic Director Jason King Jones; Stephen Sachs' comedic two-hander Bakersfield Mist (May 13-June 12), directed by John Vreeke and featuring Donna Migliaccio; Gilbert & Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance and The Mikado (July 14-August 21) in rotating rep, from Chicago's acclaimed company The Hypocrites; a reimagined production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita (June 23-July 24); and Twelfth Night (July 28-August 14) produced on the outdoor Root Family Stage.

In addition, the season will bring Paul Morella's annual solo show A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas and the launch of Adventure Theatre-MTC's national tour of Three Little Birds.
