Barbra, can you hear me? Jonathan Tolins’ hit solo play Buyer & Cellar starring Michael Urie (Ugly Betty) plays its 200th performances tonight at 7:30 at the Barrow Street Theatre. Will they celebrate with some Big Gay Ice Cream?

Buyer & Cellar is the story of an out-of-work L.A. actor who takes a job at the private high-end mall that exists beneath Barbra Streisand’s Malibu compound. You read correctly: Barbra Streisand has a private mall under her house, like a NORAD Command Center for shoes and handbags, prepped in the event of a fashion disaster. When Streisand comes down to “shop” one day it leads to an unforgettable bonding experience, but will our hero make it upstairs with his new BFF, La Streisand?

Urie garnered a Drama Desk Award for his performance. TheaterMania described it as “consistently marvelous” and “deliciously endearing.”

Buyer & Cellar is scheduled to end its off-Broadway run on January 5, 2014. Urie will reprise his performance at Chicago’s Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place (April 29-May 25), followed by a run at the Center Theatre Group's Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles from July 9-August 17.
