On March 29, Disney's newest Broadway hit, Newsies, will celebrate one year at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre. But instead of accepting gifts, Thomas Schumacher and the kind folks at Disney Theatricals have decided to give a gift to the show's loyal fans as a thank-you for their support.

For the eight performances between March 23-29, the winners of the Newsies lottery will receive their tickets free of charge (talk about a real lotto win). That's right, for one whole week, a handful of lucky Broadway fans will not have to pay Broadway prices to see one of the hottest tickets in town. Patrons can enter the lottery for up to two free tickets beginning two and a half hours before each of the eight performances. To collect your winnings, all you need to do is be present with valid identification at the time of the drawing.

Winner of two Tony Awards for the choreography of Christopher Gattelli (Godspell) and the score by Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid) and Jack Feldman, Newsies is set in New York City at the turn of the century and is based on the true Newsboy Strike of 1899. The plot follows the charismatic newsboy Jack Kelly who helps lead a newsboy strike when journalism giants Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at their expense.

The current Broadway company of Newsies features Corey Cott as Jack Kelly, John Dossett as Joseph Pulitzer, Kara Lindsay as Katherine Plumber, Lavon Fisher-Wilson as Medda Larkin, Ben Fankhauser as Davey, Andy Richardson as Crutchie, as well as Joshua Colley and Nicholas Lampiasi alternating in the role of Les.

The cast plans to commemorate the occasion with an appearance on Good Morning America on April 1, where they will sing one of the show's signature songs, "Carrying the Banner," from the Nederlander Theatre all the way to GMA's Times Square Studios.
