Rex Pickett's novel Sideways, which was turned into a film written by Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor, will hit the stage as a forthcoming musical aimed for Broadway.

Sideways follows two old pals, Miles and Jack, who go on a trip to wine country before Jack's upcoming nuptials. Though Miles, a wine enthusiast, wants to relax, Jack finds himself on the hunt for one last fling.

Pickett, who developed his novel into a stage play that ran at multiple venues across the United States and England, has penned the book of the musical, with composer Anthony Adams working on the score. No timeline has been announced for the production.

The film of Sideways was nominated for five Oscars and received the honor for Payne and Taylor's adapted screenplay. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pickett's play adaptation will receive an off-Broadway run in 2020 via Peccadillo Theatre Company.
