Marvin Hamlisch's Children's Book Marvin Makes Music to be Released November 8
Completed prior to the multi-award-winning composer's death at age 68 on August 6, the book, illustrated by Jim Madsen, tells the autobiographical story of 6-year-old Hamlisch's audition for the Juilliard School. The release comes with a CD featuring the song "The Music in My Mind" by Hamlisch and Rupert Holmes.
Hamlisch won the Tony Award, Drama Desk and Pulitzer Prize for his music for A Chorus Line. He was also Tony and Drama Desk-nominated for his music for Sweet Smell of Success, and received additional Drama Desk nominations for The Goodbye Girl and They're Playing Our Song. The composer has scored such movies as The Way We Were and The Sting. His numerous awards also include three Oscars, four Grammys, four Emmys, and three Golden Globes.
