Mark St. Germain’s Freud’s Last Session Wins 2011 Gradiva Award

The National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis presented the organization’s 2011 Gradiva Award for Best Stage Production to Mark St. Germain for his play, Freud’s Last Session, currently playing Off-Broadway at New World Stages. Tyler Marchant has directed the production.

Suggested by the bestselling book The Question of God by Dr. Armand M. Nicholi, Jr., the play centers on an encounter between Sigmund Freud and C.S. Lewis just weeks before Freud chooses to take his own life. The cast features Mark H. Dold and Martin Rayner as Lewis and Freud, respectively.

The creative team includes Brian Prather (scenic design), Mark Mariani (costume design), Clifton Taylor (lighting design), and Beth Lake (sound design).
