Levi Kreis Joins Sutton Foster in the Cast of Broadway's Violet
The Tony winner will take over for Ben Davis.
Tony Award winner Levi Kreis is set to join the cast of Broadway's Violet in the role of The Preacher on July 1. He will replace Ben Davis, who plays his final performance on June 29.
Violet follows its title character, who was tragically disfigured as a young girl in a freak wood-chopping accident. Twelve years after the incident, Violet believes she can be healed by a miracle-working televangelist in Tulsa, so she embarks on a cross-country bus trip that changes her entire life. The cast includes Tony winner Sutton Foster as Violet, along with Colin Donnell, Alexander Gemignani, Annie Golden, and Tony nominee Joshua Henry.
Kreis made his Broadway debut originating the role of Jerry Lee Lewis in the Tony-nominated musical Million Dollar Quartet, for which he received the 2010 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. Most recently, he appeared in Smokey Joe's Café at Washington, D.C.'s Arena Stage.
Directed by Leigh Silverman, Jeanine Tesori and Brian Crawley's Tony-nominated Violet opened at Broadway's American Airlines Theatre on April 20. Foster and Henry both received Tony nominations for their performances, as did Silverman for her direction.
