Kathleen Widdoes will join the previously announced Martha Byrne, Paolo Seganti, and Tamara Tunie in As the Epic Turns, an event produced by Epic Theatre Ensemble, to benefit the “Shakespeare Bridges Project” arts-education programs. This series of staged readings will be presented at the Peter J. Sharp Theatre, April 17 and 18 at 8 pm. Zak Berkman will direct.

The readings will feature special material written by Christopher Durang, John Guare, Judy Tate, and Zak Berkman. The event will also include an exclusive screening of Paul Leyden’s film Bye Bye Sally, about a suicidal woman who meets a hit man and discovers a reason to live. It will be followed by a reception with the cast and Epic Theater Ensemble artists.

Byrne, Seganti, Tunie, and Widdoes all starred together on the CBS Daytime Serial, As The World Turns, and these reunion performances coincide with the weekend of the annual As The World Turns fan luncheon. Leyden also appeared on As The World Turns.

Epic’s next production will be the world premiere of Vern Thiessen’s A More Perfect Union, to play the East 13th Street Theater, May 5-June 7, with an opening on May 12. Ron Russell will direct this play about two Supreme Court law clerks who fall in love despite very different backgrounds and opposing political views. The play will star Melissa Friedman and Godfrey L. Simmons, Jr., and the creative team will include Troy Hourie (sets), Theresa Squire (costumes), Tyler Micoleau (lights), and Ron Russell (sound).
