Jeffry Denman, Christine Andreas, Emily Skinner Set for Broadway Musicals of 1961
The popular concert series will highlight Broadway shows such as Carnival and How to Succeed.
Two-time Tony Award nominee Christine Andreas (On Your Toes), Tony nominee Emily Skinner (Side Show), Drama Desk nominees Kerry O'Malley (Into the Woods) and Jeffry Denman (Yank!), and Scott Coulter will star in The Broadway Musicals of 1961 at The Town Hall on Monday, March 11th at 8 PM. The show continues the "Broadway by the Year" series.
Showcased musicals of 1961 include Carnival, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Subways Are For Sleeping, Sail Away, Milk and Honey, and more.
Now in its 13th year, "Broadway by the Year" offers an account of Broadway's history through concerts. Each evening celebrates the songs from Broadway shows of a selected year. This program highlights favorite show-stopping numbers and lesser-known gems. Past stars include two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster (Anything Goes), Tony winner Tonya Pinkins (Caroline or Change), Tony nominee Brian d'Arcy James (Shrek), Tony nominee Marc Kudisch (9 to 5), Drama Desk nominee Cheyenne Jackson (Xanadu), and Elizabeth Stanley (Company).
The concert will be directed and choreographed by Jeffry Denman. The Broadway by the Year Chorus is under the direction of Scott Coulter, and musical direction will be by Ross Patterson. The show will be written and hosted by series creator Scott Siegel.
