In Rehearsal With Lin-Manuel Miranda and the Cast of Hamilton
Miranda's new musical will play the Public Theater.
Rehearsal photos of Lin-Manuel Miranda's new musical, Hamilton, have been released. Inspired by Ron Chernow's book Alexander Hamilton and directed by Thomas Kail, the production begins performances January 20 at the Public Theater and will run through March 22. Press opening will take place on February 17.
Miranda himself will take on the title role, with a principal cast that includes Christopher Jackson (George Washington), Brian d'Arcy James (King George), Renée Elise Goldsberry (Angelica Schuyler), Phillipa Soo (Eliza Hamilton), Leslie Odom Jr. (Aaron Burr), Daveed Diggs (Marquis De Lafayette, Thomas Jefferson), Anthony Ramos (John Laurens, Phillip Hamilton), Okieriete Onaodowan (Hercules Mulligan, James Madison), Jasmine Cephas Jones (Peggy Shuyler, Maria Reynolds), as well as an ensemble made up of Carleigh Bettiol, Ariana DeBose, Sydney James Harcourt, Sasha Hutchings, Thayne Jasperson, Stephanie Klemons, Jon Rua, Seth Stewart, Betsy Struxness, Ephraim Sykes, and Voltaire Wade-Greene. Swings are Andrew Chappelle and Alysha Deslorieux. Javier Muñoz serves as standby for Hamilton.
Hamilton features scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Paul Tazewell, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, music direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, and choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler.
