Gypsy Stars Will Sign CDs at FYE on August 19

Bernadette Peters, John Dossett, and Tammy Blanchard, the stars of the hit Broadway revival of Gypsy, will make an in-store appearance at FYE (1290 Sixth Avenue) on Tuesday, August 19, from 12:30pm to 2:30pm, to celebrate the release of the production’s cast recording, and sign copies of the album.Peters, stepping into a role famously played on Broadway by such stars as Ethel Merman, Angela Lansbury, and Tyne Daly, is Rose, the irrepressible mother who drives her daughter (Tammy Blanchard) to stardom as the glamorous stripper Gypsy Rose Lee. Dossett plays her long-suffering agent and lover, Herbie.

The recording, which will be released on Angel Records, will feature new liner notes written by Gypsy book writer Arthur Laurents and the complete lyrics to each Jule Styne/Stephen Sondheim song (including such now-classic numbers as “Some People,” “Small World,” and “Everything’s Coming Up Roses”). Included on this recording are four musical sequences that have never appeared on any previous recording of the score.
