The full cast and creative team have been announced for A.C.T.’s world premiere production of Constance Congdon’s adaptation of Molière’s The Imaginary Invalid, June 7-July 8. The production will be directed by Ron Lagomarsino.

The play lampoons the 17th-century health care industry by exploring the maladies and mischief of the wealthy Monsieur Argan, a penny-pinching hypochondriac who believes in nothing and no one except the dubious diagnoses his quack doctors keep delivering. Argan hatches a plan to acquire free medical care by marrying off his eldest daughter, Angélique, to his doctor’s bumbling son, but that plan is thwarted when she falls madly in love with another man.

The cast features John Apicella as Argan, Nancy Dussault as Toinette, René Augesen as Béline, Allison Jean White as Angélique, Steven Anthony Jones as Purgeon, Gregory Wallace as Thomas, Jud Williford as Cléante, and Anthony Fusco as Fleurant and De Bonnefoi.

The design team includes scenic designer Erik Flatmo, costume designer Beaver Bauer, lighting designer Nancy Schertler, and sound designer-composer Fabian Obispo. Lagomarsino, a noted actor, directed Alfred Uhry’s The Last Night of Ballyhoo on Broadway and the Off-Broadway production of Uhry’s Driving Miss Daisy.
