In the play, which is one of Shaw's most controversial, an estranged mother and daughter wrestle with the question of independence in an age before women had rights. The play tackles issues of gender roles, finance, sexuality, and prostitution.
Now in its eighth year, Gingold Theatrical Group's Project Shaw was the first company to present every one of Shaw's 65 plays, a feat the company completed in 2009. Each reading is produced and directed by founder David Staller.
