Barbara Cook, Michael Feinstein, Renee Fleming Set for Carnegie Hall Season
Among the season's many highlights will be a special 85th birthday concert from Tony Award winner Barbara Cook (October 18), the premiere of Gabriel Kahane's new work, Don't Ever Listen (October 25), and Osvaldo Golijov's song cycle Ayre, featuring a performance by Dawn Upshaw (May 14, 2013).
Carnegie Hall will also present a semi-staged production of André Previn's 1998 opera A Streetcar Named Desire, directed by Brad Dalton, and starring Renee Fleming as Blanche Dubois, Anthony Dean Griffey as Mitch, Teddy Tahu Rhodes as Stanley, soprano Susanna Phillips as Stella, and the Orchestra of St. Luke's conducted by Patrick Summers (March 14, 2013).
Fleming will also appear as part of her Perspective series alongside Susan Graham (January 27, 2013), with the New York Philharmonic (April 26, 2013), and in a program entitled Vienna: Window to Modernity (May 4, 2013).
Among the many artists who will appear at Carnegie Hall next season are Stephanie Blythe, Lawrence Brownlee, Joyce DiDonato, Michael Feinstein, Elina Garanca, Nathan Gunn, Dianne Reeves, Kiri Te Kanawa, and John Williams.
Also at Carnegie Hall will be the New York Pops' five-concert subscription series, including such Broadway stars as Aaron Lazar, Norm Lewis, Kelli O'Hara, Paulo Szot. Click here for TheaterMania's previous report.
