Austin Pendleton to Play Shakespeare in Robert Brustein's The Last Will
The screen and stage star also directs the production in its Abingdon Theatre Company Off-Broadway premiere.
Abingdon Theatre Company has announced that Broadway favorite and Drama Desk Award winner Austin Pendleton (Grand Hotel) will star in and direct the upcoming Off-Broadway premiere of The Last Will by Robert Brustein (Nobody Dies on Friday), which will run April 5-May 5, with an April 17 opening, at the June Havoc Theatre. Pendleton replaces Peter Cameron, who has left the production.
The Last Will focuses on a retired William Shakespeare who is suffering from a fatal illness that causes his incredible mind to deteriorate. As the playwright composes his final testament, Richard Burbage tries to persuade him to return to London and unite again.
Austin Pendleton's long career of acting and directing has included Drama Desk Awards as well as a Tony Award nomination for his direction of The Little Foxes in 1981. His film and television work has included roles in Oz, Finding Nemo, and Christmas with the Kranks.
