On Monday, September 30, 54 Below will host the fourth annual Born for Broadway gala, a celebrity cabaret that raises money for paralysis-based organizations. Born for Broadway was founded 10 years ago by Executive Producer Sarah Galli, then a performance major at Marymount Manhattan College, as a way of giving back after her brother Jeff suffered a spinal cord injury in 1998. Galli aims to engage young artists and producers at college campuses across America in this fund-raising effort. On July 15, Born for Broadway received the inaugural Heart of New York Award, which will be given each year to a nonprofit or foundation whose cause improves the lives of New Yorkers.

Past guest performers include Tony winner James Naughton (Chicago), Tony winner Julie White (Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike), Tony Goldwyn (Scandal), Tony nominee Richard Kind (The Big Knife), Today host Kathie Lee Gifford, Jenna Ushkowitz (Glee), Tony nominee Malcolm Gets (Story of My Life), Vicki Lewis (News Radio), Tony nominee Orfeh (Legally Blonde), and Aaron Lazar (Mamma Mia!).

Hosts and talent for this year’s gala will be announced in the coming weeks.
