The premiere of the HBO Special Presentation Renee Fleming: A YoungArts MasterClass was held Friday, May 18 at the Museum of Modern Art.
The half-hour documentary, produced and directed by Karen Goodman and Kirk Simon, follows the renowned soprano as she mentors four students as part of YoungArts, which is a program of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts. It will debut on HBO on Monday, May 28, with additional screenings to follow.
In addition to Fleming, Goodman, and SImon, attendees at the screening also included YoungArts founder Lin Arison, Christine Baranski, Josh Groban, Mike Nichols, Barbara Walters, pop-art painter James Rosenquist, who serves as a mentor in a future episode of the program, and Aaron Casey and Samantha Hankey, two of the students mentored by Fleming.
