Kate Whoriskey has been made sole artistic director of Seattle’s Intiman Theatre, effective immediately, according to The New York Times.
As previously reported, she was to have spent 2010 sharing the title with outgoing artistic director Bartlett Sher before assuming the position outright.
The Times also reports that Sher will be taking the title of artistic director emeritus, and that Whoriskey will be selecting the remaining plays in the theater’s 2010 season.
Whoriskey has directed the Broadway production of The Miracle Worker. Her previous credits at the Intiman include The Chairs, The Lady from the Sea, and Blue/Orange. Off-Broadway directing credits include Ruined, Inked Baby, and The Piano Teacher.
