Princeton, New Jersey's McCarter Theatre Center will begin the New Year with Sizwe Banzi Is Dead, an international co-production with The Market Theatre (Johannesburg) and Syracuse Stage.

Written by Athol Fugard, John Kani (who earned a Tony Award in 1975 for his leading performance in the play), and Winston Ntshona, Sizwe Banzi Is Dead offers a tale of heroism and perseverance and demonstrates the political power of storytelling. Kani's son Atandwa will take on his original Broadway role, alongside Mncedisi Shabangu as Sizwe Banzi. John Kani directs, with lighting design by Market Theatre co-founder Mannie Manim.

Performances are scheduled to run from January 16-February 15, 2015 on McCarter’s Berlind Stage, with an official opening set for January 23.
