Mamie Gummer and Joe Tippett to Star in Our Very Own Carlin McCullough
Amanda Peet will debut her latest play in Los Angeles at the Geffen.
The Geffen Playhouse has announced complete casting for its world-premiere production of Amanda Peet's Our Very Own Carlin McCullough, directed by Tyne Rafaeli. Performances will run June 19-July 29, with an official press opening set for June 27.
The play is described as follows: "A single mother discovers that her 10-year-old daughter is a tennis phenom. When a young, dedicated coach takes Carlin under his wing, her meteoric rise takes shape and this threesome struggles over what is best when building up a champion."
The production will feature Mamie Gummer (The Good Wife) as Cyn, Abigail Dylan Harrison (The Affair) as Carlin at 10, Caroline Heffernan as Carlin at 17, Tyee Tilghman as Saleef, and Joe Tippett (Rise, Broadway's Waitress) as Jay. The creative team will include Tim Mackabee (set design), Elizabeth Caitlin Ward (costume design), Lap Chi Chu (lighting design), and Lindsay Jones (sound design).
Our Very Own Carlin McCullough was commissioned as part of the Geffen Playhouse's New Play Development Program. Peet's first play, The Commons of Pensacola, ran off-Broadway at Manhattan Theatre Club in 2013 and starred Blythe Danner and Sarah Jessica Parker.
