Constance Wu, Alfred Molina, and More Join Terms of Endearment Benefit Reading

”The Big Sick” and ”Silicon Valley” star Kumail Nanjiani also joins the cast as Sam Burns.

Additional casting has been announced for the upcoming one-night-only reading of the screenplay of the 1983 film Terms of Endearment. To be held on Monday, October 1, at the Geffen Playhouse, the event will benefit Stand Up to Cancer and the theater's New Play Development Program.

Joining the cast are Willie Garson (White Collar) as Vernon, Man (At Funeral), and Dr. Budge; Alfred Molina (The Front Runner, Spider-Man 2) as Garrett Breedlove; Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick) as Sam Burns; and Constance Wu (Crazy Rich Asians) as Patsy. Kate Burton (Scandal) and Italia Ricci (Designated Survivor) will play a number of roles.

Previously announced cast members include Golden Globe-winning and Emmy-nominated Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal) as Aurora Greenway, Melissa Benoist (Supergirl) as Emma Greenway, and Chris Wood (The Vampire Diaries) as Flap Horton.

James L. Brooks's original film — which he adapted from Larry McMurtry's novel — featured Shirley MacLaine, Debra Winger, Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito, and John Lithgow. It won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
