South Coast Repertory has announced directors and casting for the readings featured in its previously reported 14th annual Pacific Playwrights Festival, to be offered April 29-May 1.

Brothers Adam and Matthew Arkin will star as brother Joey and Kevin Colletti in the reading of Steven Drukman’s The Prince of Atlantis, which will also feature Michael Weston and Amy Landecker. Dámaso Rodriguez will direct the play, about an imprisoned man whose son he gave up for adoption writes to say he’d like to meet him.

Shelley Butler will direct Catherine Trieschmann’s How the World Began, about a teacher who ignites a controversy with an off-hand remark in biology class. Kirsten Potter, Jarrett Sleeper, and Joe Spano star.

Tessa Auberjonois, Nathan Baesel, Matt McGrath and Laura Heisler will be featured in Meg Miroshnik’s THE DROLL {Or, a Stage-Play about the END of Theatre}, set in a world reminiscent of Puritanical England, and involving a theatrical troupe trying to mount a secret production of Hamlet. David Chambers will direct.

Loretta Greco will direct Annapurna, Sharr White’s drama about a dying poet endeavoring to understand why his wife disappeared 20 years earlier–and why she’s suddenly come back. Casting will be announced at a later date.

Octavio Solis will direct a musical he’s written with Adam Gwon entitled Cloudlands, in which an 18-year-old embarks on a dangerous path after she learns her mother is having an affair. The cast features Courtney Stokes, Heather Ayres, Daniel Guzman, Ethan Le Phong, and Robert Mammana.

Anchoring the 14th annual Pacific Playwrights Festival are full productions of Lauren Gunderson’s Silent Sky, which will be concluding its run on the Segerstrom Stage, and of Itamar Moses’ Completeness, which will be mid-run on the company’s Julianne Argyros Stage.
