Macbeth Film, Starring Patrick Stewart, to Air on PBS on October 6

Rupert Goold’s BBC’s film version Shakespeare’s Macbeth, based on the awaard-winning 2007 staging — that was initially seen at the Chichester Festival Theatre, later played the West End, and finally, Broadway — will air at 9pm on Thursday, October 6 on PBS as part of its Great Performances series.

In the film, Patrick Stewart plays Macbeth, Kate Fleetwood plays Lady Macbeth, along with Michael Feast (Macduff). Martin Turner (Banquo); Scott Handy (Malcolm); Paul Shelley (Duncan); Suzanne Burden (Lady Macduff); and Christopher Patrick Nolan (The Porter).

Goold won a 2008 Critics’ Circle Award for his direction of the production, and Stewart picked up the award for Best Shakespearean Performance. Goold and Stewart also won awards at the 2007 Evening Standard Theatre Awards.
