Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) has added two productions to its 2011-2012 season: the Tony Award-winning musical Fela! and the Gate Theatre’s production of Samuel Beckett’s Krapp’s Last Tape starring John Hurt, both of which will launch national tours from the theater.

Fela!, directed and choreographed by Bill T. Jones, with a book by Jim Lewis and Jones, will play STC’s Harman Hall, September 13-October 9. The show centers on musician Fela Anikulapo-Kuti’s controversial life as artist, political activist, and revolutionary musician. The production will feature Tony Award nominee Sahr Ngaujah in the title role, reprising his Broadway performance.

Krapp’s Last Tape, which centers on a man reviewing his life through the tapes he has made each year on his birthday., will play the company’s Lansburgh Theatre, November 29- December 4.

Additional engagements for both productions will be announced shortly.
