David Archuleta, Gladys Knight, Reba McEntire, John Schneider, Jimmy Smits, et al. Set for PBS’ Capitol Fourth Concert

Broadway veteran John Schneider, Grammy Award winner Gladys Knight, and American Idol alum David Archuleta have been added to the lineup of performers who will appear at PBS-TV’s A Capitol Fourth 2010, on Sunday, July 4, beginning at 8pm (EST). As previously announced, Jimmy Smits will host the event, which will be broadcast live from the West Lawn of the United States Capitol in Washington DC.

The show will feature country music singer and stage star Reba McEntire, who will be presented with the National Artistic Achievement Award in recognition of her dedication to enriching the national legacy of the performing arts as well as her lifetime of musical contributions. Darius Rucker, classical pianist Lang Lang, and the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of top pops conductor Jack Everly are also scheduled to perform.

A Capitol Fourth will also be broadcast to U.S. service members around the world on the American Forces Network and on NPR Member stations nationwide.
