The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical has announced that it will launch a national tour in Chicago in January 2019 before heading across the country. The tour will stop at Seattle; Detroit; Charlotte, North Carolina; San Antonio; and more. Additional tour cities and casting will be announced later.

The new musical is written by Joe Tracz and Rob Rokicki and directed by Stephen Brackett (Buyer & Cellar). Musical direction is by Wiley DeWeese with orchestrations by DeWeese and Rokicki. The musical debuted last year at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.

Based on the best-selling Disney-Hyperion novel The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, the play is described as follows: "Percy Jackson has newly discovered powers he can't control, has monsters on his trail, and is on a quest to find Zeus's lightning bolt and prevent a war between the Greek gods. Normal is a myth when you're a demigod."

The creative team includes Patrick McCullum (choreography), Lee Savage (set design), Sydney Maresca (costume design), Ryan Rumery (sound design), David Lander (lighting design), and Rod Kinter (fight direction).
