Tarell Alvin McCraney and Tina Landau will premiere their new play, Ms. Blakk for President, at Steppenwolf Theatre Company beginning May 23, 2019. The production replaces the previously announced revival of McCraney's Wig Out!, which Landau was scheduled to direct and McCraney was set to appear in.

McCraney will also star in this new work, which tells the true and untold story of Ms. Joan Jett Blakk, America's first black drag queen presidential candidate. Landau will direct the production, which she and McCraney cowrote.

Ms. Blakk for President opens Monday, June 3, 2019, and will run through July 14, 2019, in Steppenwolf's Upstairs Theater. Additional information is still to be announced.
