Actors Matthew Jaeger, Tami Lee Santimyer, Gayle Samuels, and James Caverly will serve as understudies in the upcoming Broadway revival of Mark Medoff’s Children of a Lesser God. The production is set to play at Studio 54 for an open engagement starting March 22, 2018, with opening night set for April 11, 2018.

Jaegar will understudy the roles of James Leeds/Mr. Franklin, with Santimyer covering Sarah Norman/Lydia, Samuels covering Mrs. Norman/Edna Klein, and Caverly understudying the role of Orin Dennis.

As previously announced, the drama will star Joshua Jackson and Lauren Ridloff, reprising roles they originated at the Berkshire Theatre Group in 2017. They are joined by Anthony Edwards, Kecia Lewis, Julee Cerda, Treshelle Edmond, and John McGinty.

Tony winner Kenny Leon directs Children of a Lesser God, which tells the story of James Leeds, a teacher at a school for the deaf, and Sarah Norman, the school's former star pupil who has become a cleaning woman rather than venture into the hearing world. When the two connect and James begins to persuade her to communicate by lip reading, they embark on a journey that will change their lives.

The creative team will include Tony winner Derek McLane (set design), Dede Ayite (costume design), and Tony nominee Mike Baldassari (lighting design), with casting for the production by Telsey Company.
