Watch Sara Bareilles Make Her Broadway Debut in Waitress

Bareilles received a 2016 Tony Award nomination for penning the show’s score.

Sara Bareilles is currently making her Broadway debut as the star of her musical Waitress, now playing at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. She took her first bow alongside fellow new cast members Will Swenson and Chris Diamantopoulos on March 31. Check out new footage of her performance in the show.

Inspired by Adrienne Shelley's 2007 motion picture, Waitress features songs by Bareilles, a book by Jessie Nelson, and direction by Diane Paulus. The production opened April 24, 2016, and earned four Tony nominations, including Best Original Score Written for the Theatre.

The current cast of Waitress also includes Eric Anderson, Charity Angél Dawson, Christopher Fitzgerald, Caitlin Houlahan, and Dakin Matthews, as well as Cate Elefante, Thay Floyd, Henry Gottfried, Molly Hager, Aisha Jackson, Molly Jobe, Max Kumangai, Anastacia McClesky, Ella Dane Morgan, Jeremy Morse, Olivia Phillip, Stephanie Torns, and Ryan Vasquez.
