Hamilton London Premiere Announces Its Star

The musical is set to make its U.K. debut at the Victoria Palace Theatre. logo

Further casting has been announced for the upcoming London premiere of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton. The musical will reopen the Victoria Palace Theatre, currently undergoing renovation, beginning November 21, with opening night set for December 7.

Jamael Westman and Michael Jibson will join the previously announced West End cast in the roles of Alexander Hamilton and King George. The company will also include Christine Allado (Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds), Rachelle Ann Go (Eliza Hamilton), Tarinn Callender (Hercules Mulligan/James Madison), Rachel John (Angelica Schuyler), Jason Pennycooke (Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson), Cleve September (John Laurens/Philip Hamilton), Giles Terera (Aaron Burr), and Obioma Ugoala (George Washington). At certain performances, the role of Alexander Hamilton will be played by Ash Hunter.

They are joined by Jade Albertsen, Curtis Angus, Jonathan Bishop, Courtney-Mae Briggs, Jack Butterworth, Jon-Scott Clark, Kelly Downing, Leslie Garcia Bowman, Lia Given, Greg Haney, Leah Hill, Barney Hudson, Waylon Jacobs, Miriam-Teak Lee, Phoebe Liberty, Alexzandra Sarmiento, Marsha Songcome, Christopher Tendai and Lindsey Tierney. Final casting will be announced at a later date.

Directed by Thomas Kail and inspired by Ron Chernow's biography Alexander Hamilton, Hamilton explores the life of the American founding father and first Secretary of the Treasury, as well as his experiences as an orphan from the British West Indies who immigrated to the 13 Colonies and helped shape the United States of America. It began Broadway previews July 13, with opening night on August 6 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. Hamilton had its world premiere at the Public Theater.

Cameron Mackintosh and Jeffrey Seller produce the London premiere of Miranda's musical, the recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 2016 Tony Award for Best Musical. Go made her Broadway debut this March in the revival of Miss Saigon, also produced by Mackintosh. She will stay with the production until August before departing for Hamilton.
