Broadway's The Lion King Finds New Leading Men
Meet the latest Mufasa and Simba to join the long-running musical.
L. Steven Taylor and Jelani Remy will join the Broadway cast of Disney's The Lion King beginning Friday, July 10, at the New Amsterdam Theatre. The pair will take on the roles of Mufasa and Simba, respectively.
Taylor returns to the Broadway company, where he performed in the ensemble and covered Mufasa and Scar beginning in 2005, followed by two years playing Mufasa on the North American tour. Remy makes his Broadway debut after performing in the ensemble of the Las Vegas company and most recently as Simba on the North American tour.
Taylor and Remy join fellow principal cast members Gareth Saxe as Scar, Gugwana Dlamini as Rafiki, Jeffrey Kuhn as Zazu, Ben Jeffrey as Pumbaa, Fred Berman as Timon, Chantel Riley as Nala, James Brown-Orleans as Banzai, Bonita J. Hamilton as Shenzi, and Enrique Segura as Ed. The role of Young Simba is alternated between Isaiah D. Negron and Jahi Diallo Winston and the role of Young Nala is alternated between K'lynn Jackman and Shahadi Wright Joseph.
