UPDATED: Musical Tuck Everlasting, With Carolee Carmello and Andrew Keenan-Bolger, Has Been Postponed
The production puts off its Boston tryout due to a lack of theaters in New York.
UPDATED: The world premiere the Boston production of Chris Miller, Nathan Tysen, and Claudia Shear's Tuck Everlasting has been postponed "due to a lack of theatre availability for its planned subsequent production in New York." Future plans for the musical, which was scheduled to run from July 28-August 18 at Boston's Citi Performing Arts Center Emerson Colonial Theatre, will be announced at a later date.
January 23: From page to screen and now to stage, a musical version of Tuck Everlasting, based on the award-winning novel by Natalie Babbitt, will make its world premiere at the Citi Performing Arts Center's Emerson Colonial Theatre, running from July 28-August 18. With a book written by Tony nominee, Claudia Shear (Dirty Blonde), music by Chris Miller (The Burnt Part Boys), and lyrics by Nathan Tysen (The Burnt Part Boys), the story focuses on Winnie Foster, a young girl dreaming of adventure, who stumbles upon a family with an incredible secret.
The show will feature an all-star cast of Broadway veterans including Tony winner Carolee Carmello (Scandalous), Fred Applegate (Sister Act), Marylouise Burke (Into the Woods), David Garrison (Wicked), Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Newsies), Michael Park (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof), Valerie Wright (Elf), and Michael Wartella (The Kid), and the adorable Sadie Sink (Annie) in the lead role of Winnie.
The production is supported by a highly decorated crew, with direction and choreography by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon), sets by Walt Spangler (A Christmas Story), costumes by two-time Tony winner Gregg Barnes (Follies), sound by Tony winner Brian Ronan (The Book of Mormon), orchestrations by Danny Troob (Newsies), and musical direction by Rob Berman (The Pajama Game). Additional production details are set to be announced at a later date.
