Plays by Danny Bryck, Dan Hunter, Richard Schotter, Jaclyn Villano Set for Boston Playwrights' Theatre
Boston Playwrights Theatre's 31st season of new plays will feature works written by Danny Bryck, Dan Hunter, Richard Schotter, and Jaclyn Villano.
The season opens with Bryck's No Room for Wishing, a one-man show about protests, focusing on the Occupy Boston movement. The work will be presented at Company One (September 13-22), Boston Playwrights Theatre' (September 24), and Underground Railway Theater (September 30-October 9).
Next up is Villano's The Company We Keep, directed by Elena Araoz. Running October 4-21 in the company's Odyssey Theatre, the work explores two lawyer parents struggling to settle their pre-teen son into a new school, and their best friends who have surprises that will test the bonds of friendship.
Schotter's The Sussman Variations, directed by Jeff Zinn and featuring music by Phil Schroeder, follows from November 1-18 at the Walcott Theatre. Ken Batlin stars as Charlie, a musical theater writer whose life is in disarray.
The season closes with Hunter's Legally Dead, directed by Stephen Bogart. In the play, which runs February 7-24 at company's Walcott Theatre, a family wants their patriarch, who has been missing for 5 years, declared legally dead.
