What Not To Wear‘s Clinton Kelly to Emcee Signature’s Broadway on the Plaza

Clinton Kelly will join the Signature Theatre Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer and Washington Post theater critic Peter Marks in judging Signature Idol, a competition which aims to find the ten best new solo singers in the DC region. The three will be judging the finalist competition to be held in Signature’s 276-seat MAX Theatre on Saturday, July 17 at 5pm as part of Signature’s day-long Target Open House. In addition, Kelly will be emceeing Broadway on the Plaza at 8:30pm, the grand finale concert for the day’s events.

Kelly may be best for his work on TLC’s What Not to Wear. His other television credits include such specials as Miss America: Live, Fashioning a Home with Clinton Kelly, Mind Your Manners and Redo My Spouse. Among his books are Freakin’ Fabulous: How to Dress, Speak, Behave, Eat, Drink, Entertain, Decorate and Generally Be Better than Everyone Else and Dress Your Best, The Complete Guide to Finding the Style That’s Right for Your Body, as well as the forthcoming Oh No She Didn’t: The Top 100 Style Mistakes Women Make and How to Avoid Them.

Applicants, who should perform a Broadway song, can either upload a video to YouTube and send Signature the link at idol@signature-theatre.org or send in a videotape to Signature Theatre, Attn: Signature Idol, 4200 Campbell Avenue, Arlington, VA 22206. Anyone who has previously sung on a Signature stage is ineligible to audition. The deadline for submissions is July 5.
