Teagle F. Bougere, Tana Hicken Set for The Studio Theatre’s 2012-2013 Season

The Studio Theater in Washington DC has announced its 2012-2013 season which will begin in September.

The season will open with an adaptation of Ralph Ellison’s novel Invisible Man, adapted for the stage by Oren Jacoby. The production will star Teagle F. Bougere. Christopher McElroen will direct. Performances begin September 5.

The Studio will continue its commitment to Tom Stoppard with his razor-sharp drama The Real Thing, directed by David Muse. The season also includes the DC premieres of The Motherf**ker with the Hat by Stephen Adly Guirgis, directed by Serge Seiden, and Annie Baker’s The Aliens. The title of a fifth production, a new American play starring Tana Hicken will be announced at a later date.

The Studio Lab Season will present the world premiere of Dirt by Bryony Lavery.

The Studio 2ndStage celebrates its 25th anniversary season with the US premiere of Mike Barlett’s Contractions. Duncan Macmillan will direct.

Pas de Deux: Plays from New Zealand and Canada, a repertory of international works emphasizing movement and physicality, will feature New Zealander Gary Henderson’s Skin Tight and Canadian writer Daniel MacIvor’s 2-2 Tango. 2ndStage will also present Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show.
