Callaghan, Daisey, O'Hara et al. Part of Woolly Mammoth 08-09 Season

Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company has announced the line-up for its 2008-09 season.

The season will begin with the world premiere of Jason Grote's Maria/Stuart, to be directed by Pam MacKinnon, August 18-September 14. This Friedrich Schiller-inspired tale with a supernatural twist revolves around a comic book artist and his family.

Next up will be Peter Sinn Nachtrieb's Boom, to be directed by John Vreeke November 3-30. In this sci-fi fantasy, the future of humanity hangs in the balance a casual internet hook-up leads to something greater. The play is currently being presented by Ars Nova in NYC in a separate production.

From February 2-March 1, Pig Iron Theatre Company will present Hell Meets Henry Halfway, by Adriano Shaplin, to be directed by Dan Rothenberg. Their critically acclaimed adaptation of Witold Gombrowicz's gothic mystery,The Possessed, emerges as an orgiastic celebration of nihilism.

The world premiere of Robert O'Hara's Antebellum, to be directed by Chay Yew, will be presented March 30-April 26. Part mystery, part MGM epic, this stylish new play bridges time, space, religion and race to track a love affair that defies history's harshest cruelties.

It will be followed by the world premiere of Fever/Dream, by Sheila Callaghan, to be directed by Howard Shalwitz June 1-28. In the play, a forgotten employee of an American mega-corporation is literally chained to his desk, droning mindless answers to innocuous phone queries, when he is suddenly informed that he is the new CEO.

In addition to the five plays that make up the season, Woolly will present a number of special events. From July 15-20, Mike Daisey will present the world premiere of his new solo, If You See Something Say Something, to be directed by Jean-Michele Gregory as part of the 2008 Capital Fringe Festival. For one week only, creator/performer Rick Miller will present MacHomer, adapted from William Shakespeare's Macbeth, with characters created by Matt Groening. Sean Lynch will direct, October 8-12. The Neo-Futurists who return December 15-January 4 with their popular Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind (30 Plays in 60 Minutes), created by Greg Allen, and written, directed & performed by the company.
