Anna Deavere Smith’s solo play, Let Me Down Easy, will be videotaped in February during its run at Arena Stage. The show will air on PBS as part of its Great Performances series during the 2011-2012 season.

Conceived, written and performed by Smith, the production — exploring the health care system and the way our bodies carry us through life — marks the actress, playwright, and author’s third play on PBS.

Smith’s other works include Twilight: Los Angeles 1992 and Fires in the Mirror. She also currently co-stars in Showtime’s Nurse Jackie, and is also well known for her previous television work as Nancy McNally on NBC’s The West Wing.
