Maurice Hines Is Tappin' Thru Life Celebrates Opening Night at Arena Stage

Two-time Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun helms the regional production.

Maurice Hines and the cast of his dizzy-footed homage to his family, Maurice Hines Is Tappin' Thru Life, celebrated opening night at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C.

Hines shares the stage with his sibling protégés — the Manzari brothers and Heimowitz brothers — to tap through memories of his own legendary brother, Gregory, and their childhood performing with entertainment legends like Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, and Lena Horne, among others.

Tony-nominated director Jeff Calhoun (Newsies) joined his tap-dancing cast to celebrate the evening, along with Artistic Director Molly Smith, District of Columbia Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, and a few performers from Arena Stage's upcoming cast of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner.
