Schaeffer, class of 1984, will receive a Doctor of Humane Letters, litterarum humanarum, for his contributions to the arts, theater, and performance in a ceremony for undergraduate and graduate students of the Colleges of Visual & Performing Arts and Liberal Arts & Sciences.

Schaeffer is currently directing the Los Angeles production of Stephen Sondheim and James Goldman's Follies at the Ahmanson Theatre, which ran on Broadway this past fall.
