The Kennedy Center is set to present The Wings of Ikarus Jackson, adapted by Jerome Hairston from the book Wings by Christopher Myers, February 4-19 at the Family Theater. The production will be directed and choreographed by Devanand Janki.

The Wings of Ikarus Jackson is a dance-theater production with music by R. MacKenzie Lewis, which tells the story of Ikarus Jackson, whose main challenge is not school work, but fitting in with his classmates. Instead of a backpack, he dons a feathery white set of wings.

The cast includes Neville Braithwaite (Big-Up), Felicia Curry (Shorty), S. Lewis Feemster (Bigger-Up), Mark Hairston (Dad and Police Officer), Andreu Honeycutt (Ikarus), and Lynette Rathnam (Cris) as well as Edward Daniels, Cyana Paolantaio, and Nickolas Vaughn.

The design team will be comprised of Meghan Raham (set and costume design), Dan Covey (lighting design), and Chris Baine (sound design).

Janki is perhaps best known for his direction and choreography of the Off-Broadway hit, Zanna, Don't, which won Lortel, Callaway & GLAAD Media Awards. Among his other New York credits are The Yellow Brick Road , Junie B. Jones, Cupid & Psyche, Henry & Mudge, Shine! The Horatio Alger Musical, This One Girl's Story, and Romantic Poetry.
