The Mystery of Love & Sex starts its run tonight at Signature Theatre.

Despite being complete opposites, Charlotte and Jonny have been best friends their whole lives. Now that they’re at college together, they debate taking their friendship to a romantic level. After all, Charlotte does seem to have feelings for Jonny. Unfortunately for Jonny, she thinks her new friend Claire is pretty cute too.

Bathsheba Doran’s latest play is directed by Stella Powell-Jones. The cast features Shayna Blass as Charlotte, Xavier Scott Evans as Jonny, Emily Townley as Lucinda, Jeff Still as Howard, and David A. Schmidt as Howard’s father.

"We're thrilled to welcome Bathsheba back to Signature with her newest work The Mystery of Love & Sex," said Eric Schaeffer, Signature Theatre artistic director. "It's also a great pleasure to welcome Stella Powell-Jones to Signature to direct this premiere. I have always been a huge admirer of Bathsheba’s work and I am glad Signature can bring her acclaimed new play to Washington in what promises to be a terrific production."

The creative team includes Jim Kronzer (set design), Ásta Hostetter (costume design), Jesse Belsky (lighting design), James Bigbee Garver (sound design), and Kerry Epstein (stage manager).

Performances will run through May 8.
