Stefan Karl to Star in North American Tour of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Stefan Karl, best known as Robbie Rotten on Nickelodeon’s LazyTown, will star as the Grinch in the North American tour of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas, which will launch at Omaha’s Orpheum Theatre, November 9-14. Matt August will direct.

The show is based on the beloved Dr. Seuss tale that was published in 1957. The musical has book and lyrics by Timothy Mason and music by Mel Marvin; it also includes the Albert Hague songs “You’re A Mean One Mr. Grinch” and “Welcome Christmas” from the classic animated TV film based on the story. It has been a long-time holiday favorite at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego and has previously played Broadway.

The cast also features Seth Bazacas, Brooke Lynn Boyd, Serena Brook, Brance Cornelius, Ariana Gibb, Ryan Knowles, Ginnie Lee House, Rebecca Prescott, Bob Lauder and Carly Tamer and includes Jenavene Bazacas, Andrew Boetcher, Matt David, Matt Densky, Lauren Devine, Katie Emerson, Kyle Garvin, Willow Grey, Emily Grosland, Jackie Nguyen, Domonique Paton, David Thornton, Lily Tobin, and Jennifer Wilcove.

Choreography is by Bob Richard with original choreography by John DeLuca. The production also features scenic design by John Lee Beatty, costume design by Robert Morgan, lighting design by Pat Collins and Lauren Phillips, orchestrations by Michael Starobin, and sound design by Colle Bustin and Michael Viveros.

Following the Omaha engagement, the tour will play Tempe, Arizona (November 17-21), Houston, Texas (November 24-December 5), Dallas, Texas (December 7-12), and Toronto, Canada (December 17-January 2).
