Emma Hunton, Jeremy Kushnier, Alice Ripley, Asa Somers, et al. Set for Next to Normal National Tour

Full casting has been announced for the North American tour of Next to Normal. As previously reported, Alice Ripley will reprise her Tony Award-winning role of Diana for the musical’s entire 36-week multi-city tour, with a six-week engagement at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, November 23-January 2.

The musical, written by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey and directed by Michael Greif, addresses issues of mental illness and a suburban family’s efforts to cope with loss. It was recently awarded the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and also received three Tony Awards.

The cast will also feature Asa Somers (Dan), Curt Hansen (Gabe), Emma Hunton (Natalie), Jeremy Kushnier (Dr. Madden/Dr. Fine), and Preston K. Sadleir (Henry).

The creative team includes Mark Wendland (set design), Jeff Mahshie (costume design), Kevin Adams (lighting design), and Brian Ronan (sound design). Musical direction is by Bryan Perri, orchestrations are by Michael Starobin and Tom Kitt, and vocal arrangements by AnnMarie Milazzo.

Following the premiere, the tour has confirmed engagements in Denver, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Des Moines, Providence, Hartford, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Chicago, St. Paul, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Washington, DC, and Toronto.
